I love making biscuit poppers, but sometimes I need to improvise! I really wanted to make the pepperoni poppers, but we didn’t have any biscuits. We did happen to have some crescent rolls, so I decided to try something new. They came out pretty good and my husband’s friends devoured them! They are fairly easy to make too, so give these yummy pinwheels a try!
Ingredients:
- 1 package crescent rolls
- Mozzarella cheese
- Parmesan cheese
- Pepperoni
- Seasonings of your choice
- Butter
The spice rack I bought came with this mix of spices labeled Pizza Seasoning. I had never used it, but it worked great with these little pinwheels. You could use oregano, parsley or any Italian seasoning you have on hand. You could also just use a little pepper or nothing at all, whatever your preference is. I didn’t put any exact measurements for the cheeses or pepperoni because I think it really depends how much you want. I made the first batch with just a thin layer of cheese and thought they needed much more. The second batch, I really piled the cheese on and I thought they were much better.
First, preheat your oven to 375°. Next, you want to chop up your pepperoni. Cut it into pretty small pieces.
Next, get a nice surface to roll your dough out on. I used some foil and put some flour on it. Roll the dough out and separate into strips of 2 triangles each. Press the seams together where it is precut. Pile on your cheeses, pepperoni and seasonings.
I’d definitely suggest putting more cheese than seen in this picture. It just wasn’t enough in my opinion. Roll it up and pinch the edges to seal it together. Cut it into a few slices, I did about 5 to 6 for each of these. Place them on a greased cookie sheet.
I ended up topping some with little dabs of butter and others with extra cheese. They both turned out good, so do one or the other or neither! Bake these for about 10 to 15 minutes (longer if they are bigger, shorter if they are smaller).
These pepperoni pinwheels were a great, delicious finger food to serve when we had company. They go great with a little pizza or spaghetti sauce too!
