If you are on a diet or counting calories, just walk away now! This recipe tastes so much like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups… it’s hard to stop at just one. There is no baking required, making this recipe super easy. If you like Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, give this one a try!
Ingredients:
- ½ cup butter
- 1 ¾ cup powdered sugar
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- ¾ cup graham cracker crumbs
- ¼ cup butter
- ½ cup chocolate chips
Some of the recipes I found on the internet suggested using semi-sweet chocolate chips, others milk chocolate. Use whatever you have on hand because I doubt either would be bad! The recipes I found online varied slightly overall, but this was probably the most common use of ingredients I found. Some of them used much more chocolate, but my favorite part of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups is the peanut butter, so I went a little light. If you are a chocolate lover, add as much chocolate as you’d like! Also, if you would like to use a different kind of peanut butter, like chunky, I think it would come out great as well.
First, get a baking dish (I used an 8×8 inch one) out and cover it with aluminum foil. This will help them come out much easier. Next, melt your ½ cup of your butter. I just placed mine in a small mixing bowl and heated it up in the microwave. Add in your peanut butter and powdered sugar. Mix these up until everything is nice and creamy….
Then add in your crushed graham crackers. It’s ok if there are some larger chunks; don’t put too much work into crumbling them up! Once you have mixed the graham crackers in well, pour the mixture into your pan that is covered with aluminum foil.
Spread the mixture out evenly. Now you are going to make the chocolate topping! Melt the chocolate chips with ¼ butter. I just put mine in the same bowl I used for the peanut butter mixture and heated it up in the microwave. Don’t overdo it though, you just want them barely melted. Mix them up and cover your peanut butter mixture.
It doesn’t have to be perfect, trust me, it’ll taste amazing regardless! Now, you want to keep this in the fridge for about an hour or two and then cut it into bars. It won’t be ready to eat yet, but you need to cut it into bars before the chocolate sets, or they will crack when you try to cut them. I left mine in the fridge overnight.
Serve these wannabe Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Bars with an extra large glass of milk… you will need it!
